Brett Molenaar brings grounded authenticity and good-natured professionalism to his work with Thomas & Talbot Estate Properties in Middleburg. With more than 18 years of experience spanning both commercial and residential real estate, property development, asset management, and leasing, Brett approaches every transaction with the same care and diligence he applies to his own investments. His work is defined by a comprehensive understanding of each client’s goals, meticulous attention to contractual details, and a hands-on commitment to every step of the process, supported by clear communication and genuine personal investment from start to finish.

Before returning to Virginia, Brett built his career in Coronado and throughout Southern California. In 2009, he co-founded Bridgetown Properties with his wife, Kara. The privately held multifamily real estate asset management firm maintains holdings in Los Angeles, San Diego, Richmond, and Northern Virginia. Brett firmly believes that relationships, honesty, and transparency are the foundation of enduring success—principles he learned while building and leading his family business while expanding its reach and performance. He also represented a longstanding roster of recurring clients in commercial and residential acquisitions and managed their properties while seated with The Morabito Group, a leading luxury real estate team in Coronado, CA.

A native of Pasadena, CA, Brett graduated from The College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, where he played football as a quarterback and met his wife, Kara Davis Molenaar, a Middleburg local.

After many years in California, Brett and Kara returned to Virginia to acquire and preserve an operating farm and raise their children amid the traditions of country life and to educate their children at The Hill School. They are passionate horsemen and active subscribers to both The Piedmont Fox Hounds and Orange County Hounds. Brett’s additional interests include coaching youth sports, golf, fishing, architecture, history, and landscape design—pursuits that reflect his lifelong appreciation for community and for properties where heritage, function, and natural beauty converge.

Brett’s career has been defined by a dedication to honesty, transparency, and an unwavering work ethic. Combined with his deep understanding of land use, conservation principles, and complex estate properties, he guides clients with integrity, discretion, and a clear vision for long-term success.

Brett and Kara reside at historic Huntland Farm in Middleburg with their two children, Edwin and Elspeth.
