Main House

First Floor:

Great entertainment space flowing room to room, no dead ends.

The front door and all the wooden doors throughout the house were custom made in France. Also, the terra cotta floors in the kitchen were made in Provence and the limestone flooring in the front hall and powder room are from the Bordeaux region of France

The wide board oak floors on the first and second floors come from oak trees fallen by a hurricane in the late 1990s at The Upperville Horse Show grounds. The logs were quarter sawn and old fashion nails used to create an antique look.

The fireplaces in the Kitchen, Living Room and Library are all antiques of different epochs from France. The tiles/briques that line the fireplaces are installed in the traditional French Chevron method. The Library fireplace was turned into a gas fireplace. The Kitchen and Living Room fireplaces draw beautifully!

The walls in the kitchen were hand plastered to create an uneven rustic look.

There is a recessed TV behind antique Indian gates, a supply closet and a china closet and a laundry chute to the basement. The cabinets are made of knotted alder wood. There is a pullout spice closet, a warming drawer, 6 eye gas stove top, 2 electric wall ovens, a Bosch and two Fisherpiekel dishwashers, a insta-hot, a sub zero and a 2nd fridge in the supply closet. The bay windows in Kitchen and Mud Room are lined in copper.

The mud/dog/flower arrangement room has a powder room, and (3) closets. The dog door and door lead to an outside enclosed area which is fenced and includes vegetable and flower gardens and a 60amp generator. Potting shed nearby for tools etc

The wood in the Library is Alder. There is a TV hidden behind the painting above the fireplace and there is a bar behind French grilled doors.

A hidden door leads to the Master Bedroom suite which has a large bathroom w/2 sinks, shower/ steam and a jacuzzi style bath tub and an enclosed Watercloset. The bathroom leads to a private outside shower. There are two Dressing rooms

The paintings come from France, possibly Rouen (the cathedral is in each of the 4 paintings) and were painted on sheetrock which is why they are affixed to the wall and will remain.

The wine cellar is an authentic French design. An 8' pit was blasted at the time of construction to create a content geothermal driven 53-55F temperature and perfect humidity.

There is a full bathroom, laundry, exercise room, gun/dog room with safe and storage and a large generic storage space.

2nd floor:

3 bedrooms with ample closet space, 2 full bathrooms and a sunken TV room with wooden beams, closet space and access to a storage attic.

There is a laundry chute which goes down to the basement.

3rd floor:

Large children's dorm with a full bathroom.

The house has central vacuum system, propane heating and AC system.

LOG BANK BARN/ Guest and Pool House

This unique log structure was built around 1795 and survived the barn burnings by the northern troops as they pushed through Virginia. The structure is one of the largest remaining log structures in Virginia at approximately 60 feet by 24 feet. It is erected with massive oak and Chestnut logs. We found the structure in in the hills west of I-81 in Virginia. It was dismantled, each log numbered and upon arrival the logs were treated for termites and oiled for preservation- then reassembled. It took 1 year to assemble: once the logs were re-stacked and some replaced, a labor intensive "chinking" occurred, 7 layers of metal grill, grey cement then colored cement then from the inside insulation was placed, another metal grill, grey cement then finally colored cement!!

On the entrance level there is 1 bathroom, master bedroom, 2nd bedroom/office, large living room and 2 lofts at the upper level. On the lower floor a full kitchen, ice-maker, dishwasher, stacked washer and dryer, a powder room, shower, changing room and boiler room.

The salt water pool has a unique stone diving board, circular mill stone as an outdoor dining table and a covered outdoor area. A perennial garden surrounds the area.

An established orchard is fenced and includes plum, several varieties of apples, almond, peach, sweet and sour cherry and apricot trees. Water for the orchard is nearby.

Our caretaker and his wife and 3 boys live in a 3 bedroom apartment, 1 bathroom, kitchen and large living/dining room. The 3rd bedroom is downstairs. They have a manual generator as well.

The caretaker cottage also houses two garage bays with automatic doors and a third bay for storage and equipment to support the cottage (water, heat, etc).

A 7 stall barn with a tyvek wash stall, heated tack room w/powder room and washer & dryer, a feed room w/blanket drying racks, hayloft with storage room. The barn has a manual generator which supports all horse paddock waterers. Beams across the aisle way are local and brass stall door hardware was imported from Morocco! There is an anti fly spray system for each stall.

Fencing has been repainted and repaired this year.

There are three 3 bay turnout shed and two 2 bay turnout sheds. Automatic watering system for all 7 horse paddocks.

The rest of the property has an automatic watering system for cattle with watering spigots for special needs. Over the past few years the fields were rested from cattle and hay was made. Fields are in very good chemical balance for multiple uses.

There are two ponds. The first pond is secluded and tends to attract ducks and other wildlife.

The second larger pond was built over a swampy area and had multiple spring feeds. It has an island in its center and attracts geese, ducks, swans, herons and American Bald Eagle visitors. This pond has been stocked with fish and has an electric powered air flow system for algae control.

The main house, log barn and cottage are all supported by Wifi connected to a private high speed cable system. The system is highly reliable and supports multiple users streaming concurrently with no latency.

The farm is supported by well maintained tractors, trucks, mowers, bush hogs, and multiple necessary implements which are available to stay with the property. Two equipment sheds, one fully enclosed and one drive thru with roof and open ends provide cover for the farm's equipment.
